Welcome to my portfolio

My work incorporates both the still and moving image by construing still life images and animating them by making alterations to the still life. My work focuses on the symbolism of an object, drawing on its symbolism into a narrative. My work is not made for a specific group or person however, if I had to define my audience they would be people who share my interests and passions. I produce my work based off my interests, Scáthchruth is based off Irish mythology, Irish mythology is something I’ve always found fascinating especially since there is so much unknown about it, as much of the written material was destroyed. Once I have my idea, I draw up sketches to visualize my idea before heading to the studio to shoot. The materials I use are vital to my concept, as Burial surrounds the subject of plastic pollution I used items I had to hand, recycled materials, in Scáthchruth I used paper and a colour similar of handmade illustrated storybooks as that was the concept I intended. Below I have curated a selection of my work which represents me best. This selection of work taps into my current interests of the still and moving image. Burial is my most recent work, I have been working on it for the past year, the work is about the disruptive ecological mark we have made on our planet, the work is made using the viral GIF format. The Second work Scáthchruth (Silhouette) is a retelling of an old Irish folk tale “The Dagda’s Harp” finding inspiration from Japanese shadow puppets I attempted to create something which spoke of Irish mythology in a simple monochromatic style and lastly The Elements, this work is a short video where I experiment with loops, time and subjecting flowers under different conditions, burning, freezing, and documenting the process.
